Our Shaker-rib sweater is a great addition to your transitional wardrobe for spring or fall. Made of ultrafine Peruvian pima cotton, known for its softness, strength and durability (ie it doesnt pill as easily as other cotton because of its naturally longer fibers), this versatile sweater looks great over a dress shirt, knit, even under a sportcoat in spring or early fall.  We've got it in natural and army green this season, two great neutrals that go with everything.

Did you know? Like coffee or fine wine, the quality of cotton varies greatly. Peruvian pima cotton is a luxurious natural fiber regarded as the world's best in quality due to several factors.

  • Optimal growing conditions: Most pima cotton is grown along the northern coastal valleys of Peru. Peru is Pima cotton’s ideal setting, known for its  mild temperatures year round and a rich soil that are optimal conditions for the cotton plant.
  • Its extra long staple: With cotton, or any natural fiber like cashmere, the longer and smoother the filament, the softer the fiber. Peruvian pima fiber is about twice the length of normal cotton. This adds to the fiber’s durability and makes it highly resistant to pilling.
  • It is harvested by hand, because commercial cotton machines often disturb the fibers smoothness and can discolor it. Peruvian pima is picked by hand, for fewer imperfections, smoother finish, and a pure white shade that dyes beautifully. Harvesting by hand is also more environmentally friendly.
